Business Spotlight: Desiata Training

Maddy and Spencer Desiata, both born and raised in Rhode Island, met at the gym in 2019 and began their careers as personal trainers. During the pandemic, they moved to South Carolina and shifted to online coaching, helping clients across the country improve their health. In 2023, they returned home to Rhode Island and began training a few clients out of their apartment—an effort that quickly grew. By March 2024, they opened Desiata Training Studio in Warren. We caught up with them to hear more about their journey.

Tell us how you ended up opening your studio in Warren.

In January 2024 we went out to dinner in Warren and parked on Main Street. As we got out of the car we saw a FOR LEASE sign on the window of an empty space. Two days later we toured the space and fell in love! We officially opened our doors in March and received a very warm welcome from all of the community—especially other local businesses.

What is your approach to training clients?

Our philosophy is centered around making fitness fun. We create workouts our clients will look forward to even when they have to push themselves out of their comfort zone. We also like to add a healthy dash of humor and honesty. We focus on strength training and building muscle, which are the pillars of any fitness goal, whether it’s aesthetic (weight loss, toning) or lifestyle (healthy aging, keeping up with your kids)
