Salt Of The Earth

What started as a personal search for real scalp solutions has evolved into one of Warren’s most thoughtful beauty spaces—Salt of the Earth Salon.

Owner Racquel Volpe first imagined Salt of the Earth Salon while navigating her own scalp concerns. Rather than settling, she immersed herself in research and restorative techniques—and quickly recognized a gap in the industry. There was space for something more intentional, a studio that blends spa-level scalp care with elevated, creative artistry.

She imagined a studio grounded in community, where guests feel genuinely cared for, scalp health is essential, and stylists could build balanced, evolving careers with mentorship and support. That vision became Salt of the Earth, now celebrating seven years in October.

At Salt of the Earth Salon, intentional hair design is paired with restorative scalp care to create a truly mindful beauty experience. Their signature HeadSpa is a multi-step restorative treatment designed to detoxify, deeply hydrate, stimulate circulation, and relax the body. Guests leave with a healthier scalp environment, more lift at the root, and a noticeable sense of calm. It’s haircare and self-care in one seamless experience.

What inspired you to open Salt of the Earth Salon and how did the name come about?

Salt of the Earth began during a season when I was experiencing my own scalp concerns. As a hairstylist, I was searching for real solutions and at the time, scalp care simply wasn’t what it is today. I dove into research, studied restorative techniques, and felt something shift—I saw a need in the industry for a balanced space that blended spa-level scalp care with creative artistry. Not only did I want to explore mindful beauty, but I wanted my career to extend beyond physical service. I envisioned a space rooted in community where guests feel genuinely cared for, scalp health is treated as essential, and stylists can build balanced, evolving careers while being mentored and supported as artists.

I knew this was my next chapter.

So, I made the leap of faith and opened the studio. And now, we celebrate seven years this October!

Another full-circle moment, my great-grandfather owned Lessard’s Market on Main Street. So when a space opened at 486 Main Street, I knew it was kismet.

Fun fact about the name:

I had “Salt of the Earth” written on the front of a notebook and kept it in my car every day until I found the right space in Warren. The name reflects the grounded, hardworking, good-hearted energy I wanted the salon to hold—simple, honest, and deeply intentional.

What makes your approach different from a traditional salon?

We pair intentional hair design with restorative scalp care, creating a mindful beauty experience. It’s not rushed or transactional, it’s rooted in care. Beautiful hair starts at the foundation and we treat the scalp as essential.

What is a HeadSpa and how does it benefit clients?

A HeadSpa is a multi-step restorative scalp treatment designed to detoxify, hydrate, stimulate circulation, and deeply relax the body. Guests often notice a healthier scalp environment, more volume at the root, and real stress relief. It’s haircare and self-care in one experience.

What’s something new at Salt of the Earth?

We’ve introduced our Express, Classic, and Luxury tier system to create a clear, personalized pathway for every guest. Whether someone needs just the basic maintenance or a full restorative service, they can choose the experience that fits their time and energy without compromising quality.

At the same time, we’re evolving our creative color approach, keeping it rooted in classic theory while refining it for today. We’re transitioning clients into richer, more dimensional color with structure, balance, and lasting integrity.

What’s your idea of a perfect day in Warren?

A morning coffee from one of our many amazing coffee spots, walking around town visiting local shops and restaurants, and ending the day with playing games with the fam. Warren has that small town charm and creative spirit that feels both peaceful and alive.

What do you love about being part of the Warren business community?

It’s collaborative, not competitive. We have so many beautiful businesses that there’s a true sense of “we’re in this together,” and that shared support makes being a small business owner here incredibly meaningful.

How do you see Salt of the Earth growing?

I see Salt continuing to deepen, not just expand. We’re refining our restorative scalp care and color work so guests can reach their hair and scalp goals in a way that feels sustainable and accessible.

At the same time, we’re building a culture where stylists can grow balanced, long-term careers which ultimately creates a more consistent, supportive experience for every guest.

Growth for us isn’t about getting bigger. It’s about becoming more intentional and impactful.
